Hot off the news, yesterday, December 10, marked the busiest online shopping day of the year for eBay.

Here’s some info from Business Wire:

While Cyber Monday remains an important milestone because it marks the beginning of the online holiday shopping season, data from eBay Inc. companies indicates that online shopping actually peaks on the second Monday in December. eBay Inc. companies have named the second Monday in December “Green Monday” as a result of the increased online shopping activity.

“Green Monday” Supporting Data:

– According to data from PayPal, the second Monday in December has been the busiest online shopping day of the year since 2001, and the volume continues to grow. For example, Green Monday 2006 saw a 33 percent increase in PayPal payment volume from 2005.

– Shopping.com experienced record-breaking holiday shopping activity on Monday, December 10, 2007, the second Monday of December, with 54 percent growth YOY in traffic to its merchant partners.

– “Green Monday” activity on Shopping.com peaked between 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. PT yesterday

From our own sales record, it seems to confirm with “Green Monday” phenomenon too, and we’ve record sales during that day on our website and the various marketplaces that we sell at. I wonder what causes that?
